Daniel Turpen was a multiple All-League selection basketball player and a multiple All-State team pitcher for the Grizzlies from 2001-2004. After being chosen as the Oregon Gatorade Pitcher of the Year as a senior, Daniel helped the Oregon State Beavers make the College World Series for three straight years. He won two consecutive National Championships in 2006 & 2007, before being drafted into the MLB in the 8th Round by the San Francisco Giants.
Alyssa Hasslen was perhaps the greatest Track & Field thrower that MHS ever had, holding the all-time record in Shot Put & Discus, and the #2 spot for Javelin. She was a highly-decorated multi-conference champion at the University of Arizona, and nearly competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Joe Paterson was an All-League Quarterback and an All-State baseball player for the Bears from 2001-2004. His career truly flourished in college, where he helped the Oregon State Beavers win back-to-back National Championships in 2006 & 2007. Finally, Joe spent several years pitching in the Major Leagues before retiring.
This Bonus Segment explains how Joe Paterson was involved in perhaps the greatest pickoff in the history of baseball.
This year, there were 9 MHS Senior Athletes who played 3 sports for all 4 years.
